I'm about to be a senior in high-school and my school computes grade pt average on a scale where A=4 A-=3.7 B+=3.3 B=3 and so on. Does a university use the same scale?

They exclude your non essential credits then recalc*late it utilizing the exact same scale you have posted. Take a look at http://www.gpa-calc*late.com.
